Charlie Villas is one of Australia’s favourite party starters and most in-demand DJs. Hailing from the Philippines, now residing in Darug + Gundungurra country (otherwise known as the Blue Mountains), she can be seen playing all over Gadigal land/ Sydney.

A vibe maker and dance floor legend. A master of combining styles in unexpected ways. Think disco and Prince, the iconic sounds of Paradise Garage and other legendary New York clubs, the vibrant energy of Glitterbox with 80s boogie and a global infusion that transports you to the best house party you’ve ever been attended. This is the spirit of Charlie Villas.

Internationally, she has played sets at The Glory in London, at Paris’ favourite late-night venue Le Comptoir Général, in Tokyo in the city’s legendary women’s only bar - Goldfinger and in Bali at the internationally renowned beachfront venue, Karma Beach Club. At home in Australia, she can regularly be seen behind the decks at Heaps Gay and Loose Ends. In 2022, she appeared at Summer Camp Festival in Sydney, Australia’s first touring Pride festival, where she played on the main stage alongside Years & Years, Big Freedia, Ladyhawke, Sophie Ellis Bextor and The Veronicas.

Her life-long obsession for music sparked in her teens collecting disco and soul vinyl. Her deep knowledge and love of music from all around the world has seen her work as a music consultant for film and television working at Universal Music Publishing and for retail and hospitality giants at SBA Music, and curating soundtracks for luxury brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton as well as Adidas, AesopGlenfiddichGoogle, Johnnie Walker and Uniqlo. Recently, she soundtracked the launch of the official match ball of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. Charlie was invited by beloved music director, Jonny Seymour (Stereogamous) to help curate the runway soundtrack for Sydney fashion designer Gary Bigeni, for his spectacular return to Australian Fashion Week in 2022. She also played the spectacular launch event of the Sydney Modern Project, the new wing of the Art Gallery of New South Wales alongside legendary local acts Ngaiire and Rüfüs Du Sol. She has a coveted residency at the Ace Hotel Sydney and can be regularly seen playing in their beautiful lobby on weekends.

Where have I seen Charlie play?

Charlie has brought her versatility and infectious energy behind the decks to major events like Darwin Festival, MCA Late, Splendour In The Grass, Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade + Official After Party, Sydney Festival and Vivid Sydney. This year, she played 20 events during the epic Sydney World Pride, one of the official SWP events being the Bondi Beach party, where she played the opening set to thousands of revellers on the iconic beach.
