Meet the crew

Esther La Rovere – Festival Director

“The 2018 Broken Heel Festival has already begun to shape up and become our biggest and most sparkly yet.

I’m so proud to see this Festivals growth, and in its third year we have taken on board our customers feedback plus our own points of criticism to make this Festival POP!

We have a fabulous range of headline acts and a bus load of stunning queens to entertain our guests and deliver a solid three days of drag in the desert.

We  are taking particular note this year to involve the community of Broken Hill with our Town Square schedule and street parade.

This Festival means so much to me, the Palace Hotel and our outback town of Broken Hill. The film Priscilla has put us on the glittery pink map and how could we not celebrate this wonderful, iconic and poignant piece of Australian, motion picture history.”

Philmah Bocks – Assistant Festival Director

“Priscilla Queen Of The Desert was a poignant film in my drag career, it launched it in to the main stream and made the world know and understand what it meant be a Drag Queen.

It gives me such delight and sheer glamorous pleasure to help represent the films anniversary for the Broken Heel Festival.

I’m excited for the challenges ahead and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the Drag stars of our community. It also enables me to bring the bright lights of the city to rural Broken Hill and entertain an audience who might not get the opportunity to see these acts.

Set amongst the beautiful Palace Hotel, I feel at home and I am comforted in the fact that this festival will continue to grow and grow, to one day be an international success.

This is a true passion of mine and I embrace every sparkly element of it. See you at the Festival Darling! “
