Once again the Broken Heel festival is investing in its community and artists
We have launched a new initiative for a small group of drag artists aptly named “Glambassadors”. This five-person group has been hand selected for their dedication, hard work and passion over the Festival’s successful development and their broad reaching performance careers.
The Glambassadors are employed to help raise Festival awareness and provide a high level of support to our guests, cast and crew. They will complete a variety of tasks ranging from promoting products or services online and in person to implementing marketing campaigns.
The Glambassadors role fits well in a “behind the scenes” descriptive; they are a driving force that enables the success and amazing reputation of the Festival.
Congratulations to this powerhouse of Australia’s most fabulous and highly respected Divas. If you wish to learn more about or Glambassador Queens or the Festival, please drop any of them a glittery message and they will be more than happy to discuss your query further.
Philmah has been involved with the Broken Heel Festival since its humble beginnings in 2015. Contracted as just a host for this first event, Philmah and the small crew of Queens embarked on an adventure that weekend that has taken the Festival beyond first expectations. Now titled Assistant Festival Director, Philmah has been a key creative to the Festivals entertainment and online marketing presence through her visual sparkle and even her language; giving the Festival a heart and soul.
Without a doubt, Art is one of Australia’s internationally recognised Queens and has been a key member of the Festival team since the very first year. Fulfilling the role of co-host, Art has the passion and drive to make sure that each following year displayed a sense of growth and style. With Arts incredible following, the Festival has managed to reach an audience much further than we could have done alone and raised such a wonderful reputation. We are so excited to have this stunning Queen part of our Festivals journey and we look forward to embracing her amazing ideas and unique vision.
Another dedicated Queen who has been on this fabulous ride since the inaugural Festival. Jemima has been such wonderful support to her sisters over the years and known for her dance wow performances. Due to her European success, Jemima brings with her a big international following. Jemima has installed herself into Australia’s highest level of Queendom. Jemima is passionate and devoted to the Festival; she has put in the hard yard of stunning work, the long hours of costume crushing road trips and ballet bar stretches. It’s such a pleasure to recognise her for the stunning work over the years and we are very excited to watch her continued growth and what she brings to the future success of the Festival.
Everybody bows to the Queen of Queens. Miss Vonni is a showgirl legend and deserves the respect and honour of her achievements over her incredible career. With her beginnings as a member of Carlotta’s Les Girls, Vonni has been an advocate to our communities’ rights for acceptance. We are honoured to have such a beautiful lady such as Vonni join our programme. It’s such a joy to see Vonni so passionate about the success of the Festival, always coming up with fun ideas and a huge presence online supporting our posts and programmes. When you are in the presence of such greatness, you can’t help but feel the heart of this amazing person.
Maude Boate brought an amplifying effect to the Festival two years ago and she has installed herself into the essential part of our success. It was a delightful surprise when Maude agreed to host the Silver City Stiletto and she tackled the 14-hour journey with such dedication for our passenger’s entertainment. Maude was an integral part of the movie “Priscilla’s” success as an inspiration to Felecia’s character. Maude’s fantabulous costume creations have always placed her at the top of the list of Drag Queen Royalty.
