Have a look at the fabulous exhibitions that featured at the 2016 Broken Heel Festival:
Dream Merchant takes the legacy of Norman Lindsay into a new domain: the streets and suburbs of suburban Australia. The artists pay homage to Lindsay’s flamboyance, taking over the Australian bush and suburban night in a fantasy of adorned mischievous frivolity.
The exhibition launch at the Broken Heel festival 2016 included ravishing pint-sized techno songstress LaDonna Rama performing a live set of her campy techno pop and artist Liam Benson dressed as a white lady in a handmade ivory Edwardian gown, interacting with his audience through an act of exchange.
Artists include Liam Benson, Sari T.M. Kivinen, Victoria Lawson and Naomi Oliver.
You and Me
You and Me is a participatory performance-work that acknowledges Australia's Aboriginal history and present through sequin embroidery.
Audience members were invited to work collaboratively with artist Liam Benson, where participants learned how to sew sequins whilst acknowledging country through a map depicting the diverse language groups of First Nation Australians.
What is an AUSSIE?
The Broken Heel Festival 2016 joined in a camel procession from the Palace Hotel to Line of Load and included Indian dance performance and release of balloons featuring AUSSIE poster of Khalik Family, as part of artist Peter Drew's work “What is an AUSSIE?”.
